As a former Girl Scout, this project was a meaningful opportunity to give back by designing an outdoor gathering space for ceremonies and events at the Girl Scouts Headquarters. The goal was to create a functional and welcoming area for the Girl Scouts' bridging ceremony while addressing existing drainage issues on-site.
A dry creek bed was incorporated not only as a visually appealing feature but also as a practical solution to prevent water from pooling in the center of the space. Thoughtful design elements ensure the area remains usable year-round, providing a special place for Girl Scouts to come together, celebrate milestones, and enjoy the outdoors.
